


Where they were split on was the US army seemly going out of it was way to clear the mines with costly engineer units which took heavy casualties whilst the Soviets believe that was a waste, they would soak up causalities with regular infantry and the whole point of minefield was to delay forces and ignoring that would mitigate the effect of the minefield, after all more casualties were going to be gained by the covering fire (both artillery and MG fire) rather than the mines themselves in the Soviet mindset. What Zhukov really said was pretty ruthless but it was less stupid sounding, see the Germans were very smart when it came to mine fields, they would have have artillery observers or machine gunners watching them and would fire onto anyone trying to clear them, this caused major loss of lives on BOTH allied armies. Oh Paradox, did you have to use that quote out of context? Although I am British, I do dislike it when quotes are taken out of context and I remember the how some Russians reaction to Company Of Heroes 2 (which most of it was was overreaction over a generic anti-war movie plot told poorly, that said Relic was very naughty with some quotes).
